Why buy refurbished printers?
We are asked many questions in our line of work. One of the questions that keeps popping up is, "Why should I purchase a previously used printer when I can just buy a new one?" This is certainly a valid question. Many people think that important office equipment should only be purchased new. However, many of those same people don't realize that refurbished equipment can be just as trouble free as new equipment. STRS backs up our products with a minimum 6 month warranty, while many manufacturers will only offer a 90 day warranty. Plus, if anyone has had to deal with a defective electronic product that was purchased new, chances are good that they found the whole experience exasperating. You have to ship the product back and wait for up to 6 weeks before they repair and return it. STRS' turnaround time for such repairs is usually 2-3 days, not weeks. STRS' warranty policy is clear, concise, and easy to understand. So whether you need an HP Laserjet printer, an Okidata dot matrix printer, or a receipt printer for your POS system, STRS should be your reliable source.

You Can Count On Our HP Laserjet Toners
There has been a lot of talk in the news lately about nefarious plots involving HP Laserjet printers and toners. It seems that some terrorists based in Yemen have recently tried to sneak bombs onto planes by disguising them as toner cartridges. Fortunately, their plans were foiled. In honor of this counter-terror triumph, STRS is having a toner blow out*. Look for drastically cut prices on all of the toners that we carry. So whether you need Dell, HP, Lexmark, or Okidata toners, look no further.
*STRS urges all of its customers to adhere to manufacturers' guidelines for proper use of their products. Toners are made for printing, not exploding.

Cutting Costs in Today's Difficult Business Climate
In response to the uncertain financial situation we find ourselves in today, many companies are looking for ways to cut overhead. However, given modern business' reliance on technology, one can't simply stop buying and repairing office equipment if they are to retain a competitive edge. Because of this, many see no alternative and must consider such purchases and repairs as costs of doing business. One sure-fire method to cut costs is to buy refurbished equipment. STRS specializes in taking used equipment and rebuilding it to factory specifications. As experienced technicians of Okidata and Hewlett-Packard equipment, you can be assured that any purchases you make with STRS will significantly save your company money. And since we warranty our refurbished equipment, you will have the peace of mind that you would have when buying new. Take for instance the Oki Microline 320 Turbo Printer. This printer retails new for between $350 and $500 while ours retails for $158. Okidata's factory warranty repair can take anywhere from one to four weeks, leaving your business without vital equipment for up to a month. Since our warranty repair turnaround time is usually just two to three business days, you can rest assured that you will be back up and running ASAP.

The Importance of Firmware Updates & OEM Parts
Struggling with troubleshooting a stubborn HP Laserjet Printer? It may be as easy as a Firmware Update. I recently repaired an HP Laserjet 4250n Printer that had sporadic 13.01 Paper Jams as well as 49.4200 Errors and 49.CF1 Service Errors. Surprisingly, the Paper Jams and the Formatter Errors (49 errors) were related to an old version of HP's firmware. In May, HP just released the newest firmware for the HP Laserjet 4250 Series 08.015.0 (23 May 2008) and I recommend upgrading via HP's WebJetadmin Software or FTP Method ASAP. Onto a little clone vs. OEM discussion...
At STRS, we always use the highest quality HP Parts. Most of the time these are OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), but sometimes we find clone parts that are of the same quality as OEM. Unfortunately, we have also found some clone parts put in Cheap HP Printers are not worth the savings. I've been so frustrated troubleshooting an entire printer, only to find that the brand new part you put in is malfunctioning. In one case an Hewlett Packard 4200 Series Pickup Roller's rubber was spinning independently of the plastic, which is not supposed to happen. Through our experience, we use the best parts for our Refurbished Printers, Refurb Scanners and Tabloid Printers.

Best HP Printer to use in Printshops for Platemaking
Common Question from Printshop Owners & Platemakers:A common question I get from customers is about Wide Format Laser Printers. I get calls from Print Shop owners who would like a recommendation on the best Monochrome Laser Printer to make plates. I always recommend the HP Laserjet 5000n C4111A. It is 11x17 Paper Size Capable, it can do Halftones, has onboard PostScript Level 2 and it has a temperature configurable Fuser Assembly. The print quality is amazing and these printers are very reliable. They can easily be moved and are network ready if you get one with a JetDirect Network Card. I highly recommend this printer to Printshops, AutoCad Applications and anyone who needs to print large scale drawings, etc.
